Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Guys if you haven't been to one of Sean's classes this is a great opportunity to learn at a good time of the year. The tempature will be tolerable, not to cold, not to hot. And it will give you a chance to get tuned up before most of us heads into deer season. Also for those who have never been to one of Sean's classes and want to get the dope for your rifle out to 1000yrds this class is the one. And for the guy's who have been to one of these classes, it's great for a refresher. I hope to make it out for this class myself, I hope to have a new rifle together to see how it will perform. Hope to see some of you there.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Raider, if you need a partner/spotter, I'm in the same situation. Interested in teaming up?

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

I usually team people up at the class, everything on paper is shot as individual and then we team up and shoot steel. Working on the team element with communications, calling shots, making corrections, reading mirage/vapor trail, using databooks all as a team and being efficent.

To sign up for the class fill out a registration form on my web site http://www.vaportrailtactical.net/contact_us

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

As a new guy to long range/tactical shooting would this class be worth it for me? I come from a hunting background and am by no means a novice to firearms. I really would like to get some formal training on precision shooting but don't want to waste my money on a class that is going to be over my skills at this point in time.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

I run the class by crawl, walk, run mentality, if you are doing good with something then we go to the next step or task. I believe in the fundamentals but there are people who are really fast learners and rapidly evolve.

I run everyone pretty much at their own pace, if someone is stuggling then I help them till they get it right, but don't hold back the rest of the class just because someone is stuggling.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Thanks Sean. I'm going to check my schedule when I get back in town and see if I'm free. If so I look forward to your class.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

I've been looking at rifles suitable for this class... Would a Savage 110 or Stevens 200 .223 with a super sniper 10x scope qualify?

I've got the scope on the way, but looking or a rifle to go under it.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

38Revl- A Savage 110 in something larger than .223 would be fine, .223 will get there but the wind will kill it past 6-700yds. Plus seeing and hearing impacts on steel become more difficult too, it is a good 600yd and closer caliber.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Sean, pending approval of my leave request, Ill be in on this course.

Also, can you update on how many open spots are still on your roster?

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

I only have 3 people signed up so far quite a few pending, just sign up on the web site using the registration form.

Need at least 6 to make the class a go, if there are several people who want to do more than the basics then I can split the class and do more UKD, multiple/ rapid target. While I work with those who need the basics on paper, it all depends on the skill level of the shooters who sign up.

You get what you want out of the class, esp if the class is a small one of only 6 to 8 people, we can do simple to complicated but you gota sign up and tell me what you want to work on.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Damn. This is the exact same time as my deer hunt out West..Are there any future classes like this one? I want to get in on one if possible

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

I will be starting next years classes down in N.C. starting in Jan. 21/22 weekend.

In the spring I will be using a new place up near Saxton, Pa. that will have steel targets out to 800yds and one at 1200yds. The terrain and features of the property will be great for holding classes. It will also feature lodging and a classroom right on the property, using the owners basement it will sleep 10 to 12 people.

I will be using both properties throughout the year alternating locations depending on demand and weather.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Free Bump for those that may be riding the fence. I'm going back down with a friend, look forward to meeting some new people, and some warmer weather.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Guys I had to cancel this class due to a unavoidable range conflict, I am looking to post multiple dates to be able to choose from in December. I will post as soon as possible when I have the dates. Thanks

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Sean, keep me in mind for the January class. I expect to be back in the States by Christmas. New GAP .300WSM should be there around the same time. I'll drag Mike.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, Nov 12/13 in N.C.

Lexington, where do you live? I'm right up the road living in Stafford? We should hook up sometime at the local base for rec fire, there is also the Phelps hunter sight in range there in Fredricksburg right off 17

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, 3/4 Dec in N.C.

Targaflorio. Dec 3-4 is a stretch. I expect to be at FT Hood doing 15 mins of paperwork in 2 weeks. Its the Army's "extend the suck" program. They have to justify the existence of the 40 REMFs for every one soldier who goes outside the wire. Did I digress?

Will be up for the Jan class.

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, 3/4 Dec in N.C.

Nice good solid information,And looks like something a lot of us would consider...
And I get over to N.C. ever so often....

Re: 2 Day Precision Scoped Rifle, 3/4 Dec in N.C.

The 2012 schedule doesn't show the 2-day version of Precision Scoped Rifle I. I'm interested in the 2-day course, primarily because of the time commitment. I'll keep my eye on the schedule.
