Re: 20" Remington 700 build (Updates)
Ok heres some updated pictures of some of the progress. Its not totally in the order I want them to be in and I left a lot out due to getting involved in what i was working with.
First off, I wanted to give this stock some texture. This gun is not going to be a safe queen. It will be used and hunted with during the seasons. I figured Marine Tex would do the job.
Started by taping off the area and cutting out how I wanted the grip. The owner is a fairly big guy and wanted the grip to wrap around the whole way.

Here is a shot once dry and before sanding. You can see how the Marine Tex is shiny and very rough. This stuff is nasty sharp prior to sanding. I mocked up the scope and rings before bead blasting for Cerakote.

I also wanted to bed the stock so the action had complete rigidity.
I start by taping everything off and disassembly, modeling clay works best for inside the action, add a built up tape dam about an inch in front of the lug, add 1 layer of tape around lug then nicely cut the tape from the rear action side of the lug so there is complete contact and leaving the tape on the front for easier removal, rough up the area that is to be beaded and make sure you put release agent on EVERYTHING that you dont want bedding compound on. For this application, I used Devcon putty and Kiwi shoe polish as release.

Yes... That is a Trap Door Springfield in the back ground that someone totally Fk'd up and I had to fix it.

Set the action in, screw down with release agent coated action screws, tighten and remove excess with WD40 and Qtips.
