Re: 200 g Barnes

It could be many factors, how far off from the lands are you seating the bullet? From my experience the 200gr. round requires a bigger jump than the other TSX/TTSX rounds. Also, what twist rate does your barrel have? It is more likely that you do not have a fast enough twist, the 200gr. TSX/TTSX requires a 1/10, I think you might have a 1/11-11.25 twist. IMO the 308 is not well suited for the round, there is just not enough power, and the long bearing surface also slows it down further. If you are planing on using it for hunting, I would use a much lighter one, 168gr. would be the heaviest I would use in a 308, the TSX rounds need a good amount of velocity to be effective.

Since you're using the factory Varmint barrel, I believe that it is a 1/11.25 twist, which is too slow for the 200gr. stick with the 180gr. TSX since you can stabilize them, or take a look at the TTSX and LRX rounds.

I also suggest you try the lighter TSX for better expansion.
