Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Jason Lu was nursing a broken ankle and came out against doctor's orders. He stepped in a hole on day two and it twisted both ankles pretty bad. He drove through it with only Advil and determination then finally limped to his truck and left after lunch on last day. That combined with the fact that his boss kept him awake arguing on the phone until 0100 both nights makes it hard to understand how he managed to hit anything at all.

That was a great match with awesome courses of fire and a mind blowing prize table. Thank you letters going out to all of our sponsors in the next few days.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Thanks Frank, Jacob, Lisa, Lindy, and the other range officers. You put on a very professional and very challenging match. I had a lot of fun. It was also great to shoot with all the other competitors, being my first time out I met a lot of new faces and I am not sure who most of them are on snipershide but wanted to thank the veterans that helped me out during the match like Tony Burkes and others. I was amazes at how many world class shooters were at the match, many of whom ate regulars on the hide. Already excited for next year but I gotta get out from behind my desk and do some training for next time.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

I'll have an "Official" break down and thank you post tomorrow, we are still recovering and don't have all the details in one place.

But I will say the Prize Table was easily over $100,000, you have to consider, not only did Barrett give away the 98b, but they also gave every competitor a certificate worth $1500 off a .50 Cal, as well SWFA gave every competitor a certificate for $150 off any Super Sniper of their choice, among the dozens of other great prizes.

I will post an official list of who gave what, but for now, you can see the partial list of what was on the table, needless to say it was extensive.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Great match as usual. Big thanks to Barrett and Nathan at Hudisco for the sweet set up. Also Nightforce for the 2.5-10x24 I got off the prize table, which was INSANE! Biggest I have ever seen at any match.

Big thanks to Frank, Jacob, Lisa, Lindy, Lisa and all the ROs that helps make the match such a success. A great time except for the hurricane that blew in on Saturday LOL

Now to go relax and back to work tomorrow. Can't wait to see more pics pop up.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Wow, what a great freakin match! Congrats to the top competitors. There were truely some of the best shooters I have ever seen at this match. Not only were they great shooters, they were great competitors too. It was a perfet atmosphere, competative, chalenging...but friendly and supportive, thanks.

This was my first match and I could not imagine it being run any better. The ROs were great, Frank, Jacob and Lindy ran the stages perfectly. And, what can I say about the Lisa's, they were amaizing. Thanks.

The sponcers really stepped up, it was increadable! Huge thanks!

Just so everyone knows, the last day was insanely tough, even without the monsoon! At the end of the second day, the percentages were all about 20 points higher than the final numbers. Good shit.

Thanks all.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Thanks guys. The Barrett and Hensolt was a surprise but a nice one LOL And now that I got some sleep in a room where I didn't need to wear ear plugs
wink.gif
I wanted to come back on and congratulate the top three shooters who shot a great match. Wade, Terry and Jeff all were at the top of the game this week. Great job guys.

Also congrats to everyone who just showed up. I know you all had a blast and learned some stuff about what you need to work on whether it be your training regime or gear. I know I saw some flaws that I need to work on.

Also everyone probably made atleast the entry fee off the prize table so make sure to get ahold of the sponsors and thank them. Not just the larger ones like POF, GAP, Nighthawk, DTA, Barrett and Hudisco but alot of the smaller companies as well who went above and beyond to make the end of our match pretty prosperous for all.

Again thanks to the whole crew at Rifles only. Great job!

Now where are all the pics and video LOL

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Hey everyone! I have some thanks to put out there and I also have to finish updating the sponsor list. So much stuff came in at the last minute. I decided to take Sunday off so I will have it updated today and will send it to Frank.
This will not be all I say but thanks to the Frank, the awesome crew we have here at RO, the sponsors, and the great list of competitors we had here. It makes all the work that is put into these things worth while. More to come later!

+1

Every match is a learning experience for everyone.

The guy who placed last ended up way ahead of those who weren't there.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

I just walked in the door from a 22 hour drive home. It was absolutely worth every minute. WHAT A GREAT MATCH!
cool.gif

Back in the day I helped organize and run large IPSC matches. I can assure you that organizing and running a three day tactical match with over 65 shooters and dozens of stages is an enormous task. And pulling it off, especially when the weather doesn't fully cooperate and not everything falls into place the first time, takes its toll on the match officials. Thank You to Jacob, Frank, Lindy, the RO's, and both Lisas, for again stepping up and working the long days and short nights to make it happen.

I can say with certainty that this match had one of the heaviest prize tables I have seen in thirty years of competitive shooting.
smile.gif

A huge Thank You to all the sponsors - or, as I like to call them, the list of names on my monthly credit card statement.
laugh.gif

And POF really stepped up: the guys were there from start to finish and made themselves accessible to us throughout the entire match, both helping out and answering questions about their rifles.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Huge thanks to everyone involved, I really enjoyed myself and learned more about my shooting weaknesses (there a plenty) and strengths (there are few) than I could fathom. A competition like this really brings to light what does and doesn't work from both a shooter and equipment standpoint.

I'll be making these a regular occurrence for me. Great facility, great people, and great company...Thanks to all for helping out the new guy.

Jacob, you'll be hearing from me soon.

I SERIOUSLY HATE driving. I drove from Vermont to Greenville, TX once and from Vermont to California once. I hated every minute. I live in San Diego and I fly to Vegas whenever I have to go there and that's only a 5-6 hour drive depending.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Gentlemen:

There were only a couple of long shots where caliber mattered. Most of the course of fire could have been shot perfectly well with a .223 Remington.

Lance Armstrong's book about his battle with cancer to come back to win the Tour de France was entitled, It's Not About the Bike.

It's not about the gun, nor the bullet. It's about the ability of the shooter and his or her familiarity with their equipment.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

I shot a bone-stock .308 with a SFP Nightforce and no zero-stop. The equipment worked fine and the bullets went in the direction the muzzle was pointed. All the mistakes I made were the result of headspace problems - they happened between the ears.

I shot next to the 22-250 for three days, and it worked just fine too. I like fancy rifles and premium glass as much as the next guy but this game isn't an equipment race, yet.

I have to borrow this...the line is great, Graham, I will reference you as I add it to my Sig. Line.

Great work folks, I look forward to the day I can give The Cup a go.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

If any one finds my trigger guard laying around in their pack when they get home let me know. It belongs on my 7-08 and I left it somewhere. OOPS.

I had a great time, met some great people, and learned even more. I look forward to seeing everyone one the next go around.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Had Gram on my left the whole match, very nice shooting.

I was running little speedy out of necessity, my 308 is getting a face lift, other wise I would have been pushing 155's w/o reservation.

As a follow up I have shot that match and the Bash several times with my 308 and for the most part I finish in the top 1/3. With the 22-250, guess what..... I finished in the top 1/3.

I need more "head space" improvement to bump my placing.

I whole heartedly agree with Lindy aka "the brain", but my only disagreement would be not knowing your dope out to the longer targets due to atmospheric conditions. Even my Patagonia software was wrong( i printed it for my brother)

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

I think that falls into "familiarity with your equipment."

That said, I dropped quite a few points because I did not have any DOPE on my rifle (the 1000 yard cold bore was pretty much a wild ass guess). I switched calibers right before the match. Now, would I have done better with a .30 cal that I had better DOPE on...or the 6.5s that I ran? Considering the wind was vicious, I am pretty happy with the call I made.

Ballistic got me real close, but it was off a little. I would have been much better off though if I had been familiar with my caliber.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Man this match looks like so much fun. I would love to just go and watch and absorb information. Congrats to everybody.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

Rob won the Barret for boarding a helo, flying to a position, jumping off, running to a 98B and engaging a target, then running back to the helo, flying to another position, jumping up on a platform, engaging another target with a second Barret, jumping down, running to his rifle, getting in an alternate position and firing the best 5 shot group of 66 shooters...yeah, it was cool.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Cup Results

The Docs will get some pics up. I have close to 1000 pics from the match and train up. When I get off nights I will post some of them. I have to pay the price for being away shooting for a week!
