I say we start now to make rules and regs for 2010 turkey contest go buy beard and weight no spurs... take pic of bird with measurments of your bird and post some photos of that bad boy... thats if there are enough people interested missouri season does not start untill last two weeks of april but i have two youth hunters i take every year so ill throw them in..

Me too. This Saturday's the opener in Tennessee. I need to add the spurs though. Riverbottom birds average around 18 pounds around here but the bottoms are easier on the spurs. Either way, I'm in!

The South zone started March 20th, I took a nice longbeard about 4 minutes into the season. Taking a friend or two Friday.

...i'd suggest a cell phone with the date shown, but i don't know how the picture would come out.

Ok lets make the contest 4 catagories beards,spurs,weight, and then overall biggest damn bird... Every body who wants in post the end of everybody season so we know when the contest will end and pics must have something in showing the date and if you fill the need to lie in a contest with nothing to win but slight braging rights your an idiot.. sound good?

I bagged one the other day in Texas, didn't get a weight though. Never bothered and hadn't seen this but I suppose I'll share anyways. Stalked him for about 2 hours.
Beard seems to look like a double beard is forming.

nice bird.. congrats i took out my 11year old twin brothers for youth season called in two gobblers at about 10 am and got them in right on top of us on shot got a kill the other had his safty on and didnt know it but ended up getting two shots off but no bird.. he was pretty upset got all teary eyed on me told me he was sorry.. how do i go about fixing that? i think im gonna spend my season now with him on my side ill try and fill my tags next year. sorry for no pics didnt have digital camera for the one bird that was killed it had 11in beard, 1 spur, 22 lbs

I put my buddy on a nice bird Thursday morning.
Done by 8:00am. Then it was my turn. Never saw another bird on the property!
Birds were hen'd up tight. And not a peep from the ground.
Stayin' in the trees to get out of the wind!
Had a ball though!
Did manage a few hits on clay pigeons out to 425yds with my little LTR tho.
Not real impressive I know but that 15-30 mph full value wind was
tough!

I regret to this day holding my son back from shooting at a bird two seasons ago, because he has not gotten a chance at a shot since. The bird was just out of his range (for his short 20 ga)and I did not want him to wound his first bird. Regrets should be left in the woods and I will back up his next shot with mine to ensure it goes as planned.

My bird this year was my first since 2007. I passed on a couple birds early on in each season & did not get a shot the rest of the time.
I hope your dry spell runs out & you can get a trophy bird soon.

Guard thats one helluva bird! Congrads to all, ours is over, 4 birds down called two in one for my girl and one for a buddy, took two myself as well, thankgod its only three months and a couple days to deer season.

Kill shot at 7 yrds (called him in from more than 220 yards out! watching him come in was almost better than taking the shot.)

The drying process is complete, so I mounted the fan and beard. I need a length of leather to hang the spurs. Here's a crappy iPhone shot, as Mrs. GD seems to have absconded with the SD card.

Sorry, just found the thread. This was my first bird. I have hunted for two years and finally connected this year. He had a 9 1/4" beard and 1" spurs. I was working a big Tom and this one about ran over me.

Biggest one for me this year...10-1/4 beard 1-3/8 spurs. First one shot this year was smaller double 6" and 4" beard 1/2" spurs. My neighbor killed the biggest turkey I have seen around here and it weighed 25.1 lbs. This was on a fish scale so not "official" but it was a fat bastard. I never weigh them:
