2011 Storm Mountain Sniper/Observer competition

I Just recently participated in Storm Mountain's sniper/observer competition this past weekend and just wanted to say I believe Rod and his team put forth a great competition that challenged a sniper teams broad range of capabilities; from shooting in tremendously tough conditions, to team events such as the stalk and multiple stress shoots. I made quite a few friends and each team that participated was very professional and each person had a great deal of knowledge to put on the table. I look forward to future events at Storm Mountain and other competitions across the states.

I agree Rod has a first class operation. The conditions at the competition were tough with rain,high winds and even some hail during the first day. The comp. challenged the best shooters.If your looking to learn how to shoot in the wind this is the location. Shooting From the repel tower to 975 yards with wind coming across the range with 20 to 30 mph gust is a challenge for the best shooters. I had one of the range instructors say "IF YOU CAN SHOOT HERE YOU CAN SHOOT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD".I Shot with group B/Bravo learned alot. All the staff and RO's were very professional and ready to help and made it a fun and cause worthy event. We all walked away with a little moore than we arrived with.

The weekend was amazing. The field was well represented with mil, LE, and civy side all there, It was for the best of causes. This is the fist competition on "the Mountain" since the benefit for gunny Hathcocks expenses. Think about that.

Our SF community comprised almost half of the teams. The LE and Civy shooters were all very competitive. There were a number of teams there that were sniper instructors for the military side.

Scott McRee competed HIMSELF with George from top shot as his partner. I have never seen a manufacturer/owner trudging in the mud for three days. I was impressed. George was a great guy to talk to.

The two stress shoots were a part of our craft that we need to practice more. The idea that you will always have a flat easy lay down bipod up position is unrealistic. The handgun and carbine stress course brought a new dimension. The hide clear was a good touch.

The best part was the competitors. All for WWP....

Nah no hump... that would have been sweet. Kinda like what the Mammoth tough man challenge has in January.

To all my new friends, "It was great to slog thru the mud and the muck with you".
To Rod and the crew, "Best run event that I have attended". I see many events each year and none have been run as this one was.
I surely found out how many of my skills needed attention!! Great wake up call!!!

On a more humorus note, man I was glad to see a medic on site, the first thing I asked him was if he had a portable defib unit on hand!!! Happy to say, it was not needed.

Thanks go to my team member George for having faith in me, it was a great honor to shoot with you brother.

Chris/Chris, Mike/Mike, Buzz/Leonard, Matty&partner and many more, I look forward to shooting with you again.
To all the guys that didn't make it, you missed a good one.

this was one of the best shoots i was ever at, the facility is amazing and i can't wait to get out there to do some training!!!
