2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shreveport

Re: 2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shrevep

Hey everyone,
I am looking for some volunteers....support staff and RO's to help out with the match. If you'd considering helping out with the match then please shoot me a PM. Thank you!

Re: 2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shreveport

Guys is this something that a novice could enter? I have never shot at a competition of any type, have never been formally trained in long range shooting and have never even seen a long range comp from the sidelines. I am however highly interested in trying one and this is not too far from me.

I figure you have to start somewhere, but I just don't know where that would be. I shoot on my own, reload and research alot. Any responses would be appreciated.

Yes, the match is open to anyone who wants to sign up for it! We'd love for you to consider shooting your first match with us. I can assure you that the match staff will help you as much as they can as well as the other competitors. This community and sport is very newbie friendly and everyone is very helpful.
We will be holding some spots for new shooters like yourself who have never shot a match before. That being said you may not want to rely on getting one of those spots, so remember registration will be at 8:00pm on February 26th by email. If you really want to get into the match I would register right at 8:00 exactly, these matches can fill up very quickly!

Thanks Adam. I am setting up and planning around this and look foreward to the opportunity. Once the shooters are determined, will there be a packing list sent to the participants or do I need to try and get in touch with someone who has done this before? Sorry for the questions, but I just have no idea of what to expect or how to train for this. Thanks for the previous reply.

Once your spot in the match has been confirmed you will receive an itinerary that will have a lot of good information about the match....rules, directions, suggested equipment to bring, what to expect, etc.
You are also welcome to PM or call me with any specific questions you may have. Also, you can ask questions here on this thread and probably get great information from other shooters about what to expect. Trust me, everyone will help out as much as they can and we all remember what it was like to go to our first match. It's not really that scary, just plan to have fun and learn what you'll need to work on to do even better at the next match. That's what we all try to do! Look forward to seeing your name on the list of registrants...like I said, make sure and register right at 8:00!

Will spectators be allowed? I can't say I can R.O. since it is a long time from now and things tend to change. I can give a definite answer to helping out in a few months.

Thank Mondo. Spectators will be allowed so if you can't help out with the match then at least come watch.

Re: 2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shrevep

I'm Leo in Bossier City and have never shot a match. The thing is with the department I work for everything is forever changing. I can put in the time to be off but say I get in and my shift changes where I can't attend, how would that be handled as far as the entry fee goes? Also how bout the round count for the match?

Thank you for your interest in the match.
The round count hasn't been officially set yet but I would guess about 150ish rifle and 50ish pistol.
As far as the entry fees...unfortunately they are typically nonrefundable.
Also, when you register please let us know that this will be your first match... we are saving some spots exclusively for new shooters in this match!

Re: 2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shrevep

Final word on pistol portion will come in about a week. Rob and I are taking a scouting trip out to LRA on the 18th to check things out. Depending on what we find out we may just leave the pistols at home and do a straight up rifle match....

Rich, down here we have bush hogs, not brush hogs. There is a difference.

Lucks, ya might take Morris up on that offer. The mowers we used aren't there anymore, but Joe promptly replied to my asking him to mow the 1k last year, so he can certainly get it done.

Now that Lucks can properly grip and load a pistol, I sure hope that there is a pistol stage or three!!

Re: 2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shreveport

I've got some very exciting news!
Thanks to the generosity of the manufacturers Surgeon, Defiance, Manners, McMillan, Barlein, and Brux we have received enough components to build two custom rifles to be given away at the match.
William Roscoe of Louisiana Precision Rifles has generously offered to build the rifles for us. Thank you to Roscoe for donating his time and expertise to build the rifles. Anyone who knows Roscoe's work knows that these rifles will be amazing works of art in every way. There will be two very happy individuals at the end of this match for sure!

Thank you again to all of our match sponsors!!!

Re: 2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shreveport

Will we have run of the whole range? i.e. Is the range going to be closed to general membership coming out to shoot? If so, there are some great little pistol bays where those stages can be shot independently of other stages going on. This is one thing I like about LRA, everything is separated from everything else by tall berms.

Gary.

All the other sniper matchs at LRA have had the whole range to work with, I would not expect any different this time.

Re: 2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shreveport

Sent! First one was a misfire on my new MacBook with incomplete data, Second one went right at 8:00.

Looking forward to shooting with everyone.

Re: 2012 Louisiana Tac./Prec. Rifle Match, Shreveport

sent mine at 8:00:05 on the internet clock. Hopefully my Nebraska Brethren got theirs in on time. The sponsor list looks "nice" to put it mildly.

I would gladly go for a Superior B&G Margarita.
