I'm going. I go every year because of my career. The only thing I hate is that a majority of the firearms industry, myself included, is located in either the East or Midwest U.S.
I've never understood why they chose to have it in Vegas, as opposed to say .... Nashville or even Branson, MO.
Gatlinburg, TN would be a hoot as well! There is more than enough room to house it in Pigeon Forge, and a lot more for 'Non-Gamblers' to do. For those of you who find yourself near Pigeon Forge, TN, you absolutely must check out the National Knife Museum inside Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Here is a 'taste' of what it holds from a friend's website. http://www.cartertown.com/Knives/smkw.htm

Gatlinburg does not have even close to enough space (convention center), the SHOT show is using more than 600,000 sq feet, Gatlinburg has a little over 200,000. 100% of all SHOT show space ran out earlier this year, the show could easily be bigger, if the space was there. This limits the centers in the US to a handful, large enough to handle the show. The good thing about Vegas, lots of hotel rooms-close. I'm glad the show isn't in the North east, the anti gun, liberal states should not get the economic benefit of the gun industry.

They swap coasts each year. Seems like every other year you shouldn't have much to complain about, although with airfair or gas prices it seems to about equal out...
