In regard to Squad assignments, we are okay to do it this week, but once this week ends, we'll not be changing the roster.

We want to have this finished and going back and forth is not gonna happen.

For those who have buddies that missed registration, we can get them sorted, and have been able to add people manually, however sooner is better than later.

We have about 115 shooters right now, we can handle more, but we are not gonna accept a rush, a few more is fine.

Do you know an approximate round count for Each Day? Rifle and Pistol to carry.

It's about 45 rounds per segment with 5 segments, you'll do 2 a day.

There are only 2 pistol stages, and that can be easy for some, hard for others, but figure you're gonna shoot 30% of your pistol rounds on one stage and 70% on the other. (Segment B & C are pistol stages) You only have to carry your pistol when you are shooting B & C, if you are not shooting those segments you can leave it in your car or pack.

We are really excited, Paul, Zach, and myself have put in 12 hour days setting up, and it's looking really fun. Each Segment will have a mix of stages, some props, some prone, some positional... we have the mover there, we have a 2 story barricade on the way out, we have a few scramblers, and the 1 Mile shot. Very happy so far. Aside from the Mile Shot, we'll have at least 3 stages with targets beyond 1000 yards, so that will be very cool.

I may film a dry run and post it, cause to me it looks like a fun match.

I am really excited about the match Frank. I just have a stupid question. You say 70% of our pistol rounds will be in one stage, and 30% in the other. Well if the round count is 100, does that mean we have to shoot 70 rounds in one stage?

I only ask because that is about twice when I would normally shoot in a USPSA match. The most I can carry in any given stage will be 60 rounds.

Frank, on the moving stages will we be able to measure the movement of the target with the reticle in our rifles in the staging area prior to engaging it?

Last year was LRI's first attendance to the Hide Cup. We donated a trophy rifle and upon seeing it, Frank made the call that it was going to be awarded to the match winner. As many know, George Gardner went home with a new rifle last year.

With a reception like that, we had to do an encore. This year we've up'd the ante a bit. Here's the particulars:

F/N built Winchester CRF Classic long action chambered for the MK248 Mod 1 spec 300 Winchester Magnum

LRI designed/built slip slotted (lugged) optic mount (industry first for Winchesters)

PTG M70 Stealth DBM

Manner's T5A stock

LRI concept design bipod mount (a little different and kinda cool)

You're rifles are first rate and definitely a worthy prize, last years' rifle was kick ass.

As far as the mover, you will not touch your rifles in the staging area, we don't allow that at all, as you are behind the firing line.

We will be able to put at least 4 shooters on the mover line at one time, then we can go down the line and shoot them as the mover will be in constant motion.

So, while the first shooter might lose a few minutes compared to the last shooter, the line will be able to track the mover before going hot. It's not that hard to hit, it's a generous plate for 450 yards, and it's not moving very fast, so hitting it will not be an issue. but each hit will be worth 2 points, and you'll have two passes to fire 10 rounds

It's pretty cool. The idea was to pull some nostalgia from the Navy. In the 40's the Navy had a handful of M70's built as precision guns. The Marines used them for a short period during the Island campaigns of WWII.

So, that covers that part.
Then we chambered it for MK248 Mod1 which of course is NAVSPEC chit straight out of Crane.
The clip slotted base pays a little homage to Uncle Sugar's Misfit Club
Last, our rendition of Navy digital camo.

Regardless of how cool I may think it is, we must always remember that when 1400 sailors go to sea, 700 couples come home...

You know, I have competed in other sports and usually the prizes stunk. But at the Cup, I suspect that VERY few of the prizes will be sold by the winners later down the road. Having an amazing rifle with historical homage custom made, reveals a genuine piece of rifle beauty. I cannot imagine what it must be like to win something like that, but I will give it my best. Who knows, maybe I will get a t-shirt.

Dude, Chad that thing is freaking awesome! It would be so sweet if my good Marine Corps buddy shooting the Cup as his first match were to win this rifle as it pays homage to some of his older brother's.

Just to follow up, you don't need a tripod, shooting sticks or much beyond your rear bag and a sling. There is no reason to haul extra gear this match, sure bring a laser, binos are fine, but beyond your rifle with a bipod and sling a few mags to make life easier is all.

Pack for possible rain, carry a ruck for food, ammo, water, and you are good.

We are feeding you lunch, so drinks and power snacks are all.
