2018 Manners Stocks?

Im still waiting on the delivery of my group buy Manners stock from Feb 2017. Any day now...
Ahh yes...I remember those days. Also, it looks like nobody at the SHOT show can buy one of Manners display stocks? I think CORE has dibs on all of them already...maybe not all of them?

It might not be a 'new' new product, but the DBM Barricade mini chassis is a nice recent addition to the Manners line up. I just got one and am enjoying it very much. The functionality is improved by adding Really Right Stuff's mounting plate to this Manners DBM Barricade mine chassis. This allows you to lock in the Manners stock to a RRS ball head or leveling base. As such, guys that like traditional stocks have similar advantages to guy's running those more modular chassis systems (MPA, Cadex, etc). Manners + RRS = very effective non-prone shooting setup.

This is a link to the Manners DBM:

And here is the RRS mounting plate:

Tagging in! Just got my PRS-2 with Mini Chassis and MPA barricade system. I'm hoping a product similar to RRS mounting plate above is release to attach the Manners MPA setups to a tripod directly instead of a hog saddle type vice.

Ive had this problem a couple times!

Unfortunately we're not alone. Tom is great, the support staff, not as much. Hate to say it because he's a great guy and will go out of his way to help you I just hate having to speak directly to him to accomplish anything so I just deal with it now and come to expect it. I've had more crooked ones than straight.

That’s the EXACT opposite thing I would want or expect after the cost and wait times. This worries me for a possible future purchase.

For anyone is interested in the RRS mounting plate to the Manners Barricade DBM, here is mine, on the RRS leveling base on a Feisol 3472.
Very tight setup. RRS and Manners have good partnership going here.

I'm waiting for another company to replace manners as the go to stock company. Their wait times are ridiculous. Every stock I own is a manners, but I keep hoping they will get eclipsed by another.

They have had ample time to increase production.

JBailey,
Can you show a picture of the plate and the DBM on the bottom of the stock?

Sure thing. That big set screw in the center of the plate screws into the DBM where the barricade stop normally goes (it needs to be removed.) The plate is Swiss Arca and will mount on any of the RRS ball heads or leveling bases.

Hi wills1911, thank you very much for your support, every year we increase our product. In 2017 we added 4 new autoclaves and two More vmc mills to our inventory mid year, that increased production and quality. We actually had a unit output increase by about 20% over 2016 and are still ramping up for more in 2018. Most orders we try to keep them between 4 to 5 months depending on design type and inlet. Of course folders and odd balls will run longer. Some will run quicker and of coarse some longer. We have added basic inlet ready to ship stocks, and flat tops for basic inlets to our web page store, it is our coal for 2018 to maintain a good level of stocks in those inventories that hopefully will allow us to get you guys stocks quicker. I try to stay up on my pm,s here on the hide, for guys that got build running long shoot me a pm and I will get my hands on them and get right back to you. Thank you very much

There are 41 stocks available on ready to ship in right hand. There are 2 in left hand, of which I am blessed with being a southpaw. Lefty's kind of seem like a bastard child of most things gun related. Most of the time its the ones no one wants in left hand on your site.

I had to wait 10 months on my last one. ATM I am contemplating buying a Nucleus action, but the thought of waiting 10 months again, is not that desirable....and is making me look elsewhere. Since most of my shooting is done prone long range, your stocks are top notch to snuggle up to over a chassis design which like to be a bit more aggressively driven.

Hi Wilson, I'm at shot this week and will be back in the office mid next week, if you would like, shot me a pm with your contact information and I will give you buzz and get you taken care of in a very resonable time frame. Thank you

I wish I could hold a couple of the stocks to see what would fit me. How do people usually make a decision on the exact stock they want from manners? How does one decide on T2, T4, T6 and PRS series?

sleeplz,

The best/easiest thing to do is visit a rifle match near you. From my experience, most competitors are more than happy to let you handle their rifles and get behind them, all the while sharing their input and experience with you. This is a good way to see if there are features you like/don’t like. I am fortunate enough to live near Core Shooting Solutions and they have a smorgasbord of Manners stocks. I personally have narrowed it down to a PRS2, T2 or T6 because I prefer the rear of these stocks (angled versus butt hook) over the other Manners offerings. Getting behind one will also let you know if you need the adjustable comb or if you can get by with just a decent stock pack/pad, which would save you a little money.

Of the 3 stocks you mentioned, those appeal to me the most. Does the Butt hook help you lock in the rear bag? Do you find that without the hook your bag slides? Lastly, has anyone here messed with the folders that Manners builds. I'd imagine that at the grip, I would be able to feel the hinge and the line at where it folds when my hand is on the grip.

Mcmillan? Theres another company that has stocks that look like wood, I can't remember the name though.

Foundation stocks are the ones that look like wood.

They are nice and I have got to fondle one before. I am surprised Wilson that you haven’t been given one yet since they are up there in OK and are for sure pushing their stocks hard core.

Same with Impact precision actions. You could probably get one of them too just by asking lol.

Hi sleeplz, if you like, just shoot me a pm, we always have stocks that we ship out to customers to handle before they purchase. Like I always tell guys, the most important part of a stock is that it fits you correctly, wether it is ours or someone else, that's the first step in making a good decision. There is no cost for this service we just always ask that you ship back insured via ups. I would suggest the PRS 1 or 2, McS-t4a or the new redsigned mcs-t2a ( pic below ) that we did for GAP. Very wide and flat in front of the grip to tip of forend, for barricades, the grip also stayed the same which some guys like, it feels a little shorter and smaller than the others. The only difference in the prs1 and 2 is the butt hook. Also all these stocks can be fitted with or mpa rail, inginuty rail or one of our new arcaswis rails, and can be made in any weight you perfer, we also have many ready to ship stocks on our web page, along with our new flat top program that we just rolled out. If you can't find what you need we can always make one up for you. Thank you

That sucks to hear. They've got some great looking products, but I'm not waiting a year for anything.

Hi m6z, yes that does suck, I myself hate to wait on items. Are we perfict? No, but we have always increased our production every year and have always strived to make a better hand made custom product and stay cutting edge. Will we every be perfict, probably not but we will always try to. Please note the response I posted earlier in this thread at bottom of post. This is also why we have rolled out our new flat top and ready to ship inventory. It won't contain all the custom inlets, but we will try to maintain the most popular ones and options. As of this morning we had a total of 65 ready to ship and 75 flat tops in inventory. All these stocks can be found on our online store web page. Thank you guys very much

I live in Kansas City and stopped by the MCS shop. Keep in mind they were getting ready to leave for shot show. They still took the time to let me handle stocks and talk to me about what they had available and coming that would fit my needs. A+ from me.

I'd rather Manners put out a quality product made by Americans in my town than reduce quality or build in Asia so folks can get stocks on Amazon with Prime shipping... I'm waiting for a Core restock myself.
