not my biggest deer but the weird one. I was leaving my stand when he charged me. I stopped him by yelling and I was watching with my bino’s. Kind of chuckled at the young horny buCk. It’s the time of year they do some weird stuff. Well a few seconds later he thrash’s his head, snort and wheezes and charged again. This time I could t stop him, dropped my bino’s and shot him at 12 feet. Thank god I didn’t miss other wise he might of made me his for the morning lol.

My buddy has spent 3 years trying to get this buck on my property. His patience and persistence finally paid off. And what makes it an even bigger accomplishment is I only own 26 acres, and he killed him with a recurve.

I think I need new “buddies”…
None of mine would even consider letting me hunt their property with that monster roaming around.

I went south to Texas to meat hunt this year. This is a broken horn cow Scimitar Oryx; or you could say Texas unicorn. It’s the first time I’ve ever done a guided hunt. It was different, but fun and the meat is tasty. I also got a Axis doe. The Axis has to be the best game meat I’ve ever eaten, to me, it’s similar to buffalo. If I lived in the Hill Country and had Axis on my property, I would have a fresh supply in the freezer at all times.

I took my old boss (and great friend) out to help fill up my freezer, but dang if those 143eldx’s out of a 6.5 PRC waste some meat.

156 yard shot. He ran straight down the hill towards the stand and fell over 20 yards from the base of the stand. It amazes me how a deer with his lungs hanging out can still cover so much ground.

Hard to get excited about a cow. However had to be one of the most exciting hunts yet. Shot her at about 20 yards with 7 or 8 spikes between us. Seen them walking and tried to guess where they were going then waited for then to walk to me. Lucked out big time. Bring lots of rope when you hunt alone. And my luck held when some friends drove by and stopped to help.

My GF had never hunted.
Visiting good friends who are Hide members and they put her on a busy area.

Dropped both in 2 seconds.
77 SMK.
If you could put a quarter on a deer for perfect shot placement, she hit em both perfectly.
Kneeling, tripod and gamechanger.

Sent the pic to a buddy back home in CO.
He showed his wife.
She said “I bet he has one helluva hard on right now.”
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well lightning struck the same place twice; I drew another NV sheep tag this year. California BH ram last year, Nelson (Desert) BH ram this year! One lucky SOB, I've been watching over my shoulder since drawing this tag as it's a super rare deal for ONE of these tags in a lifetime.
Sheep hunting is always a special time, and I couldn't have asked for better buddies to be along with me on this one. Overwhelmingly grateful for the experience and the journey, the harvest is the cherry on top.

This is what I killed Thursday evening. There was a doe about 95 yards beyond it, but I decided to shoot this instead. It’s so much smaller, I figured it more of a challenge to my shooting skills.

Very strange, she was looking my way. I fired and she never even flinched. She only ran when I finally worked the bolt.

Earlier in the week same thing, same field , heck could be the same deer. Wide open at 230 yards but I didn’t want to shoot a doe the first day. Watched them for an hour and a half feed their way to me. Decided he’ll if they’re going to come right to me I’ll shoot one with the pistol. Deep junk in the uncut portion of the field. Waited a long time for what I thought was a fairly clear shooting lane. 32 yards. Boom.. she just stood there wondering what the noise was.

That’s how you miss a buck at 50 yards. Ask me how I know:ROFLMAO:

redefining "shooting sticks"

I have always hunted far from the trucks and quartered and carried game.

Tried the hanging and skinning method the other day.

@BJG1979 had a good time makin fun of me for being slow as crap doing it.
About 90 min skinning and quarting up.

Next deer I flopped on the ground and did my normal way.
35 min from first cut to done, skinned, quartered, straps and loins (gutless).
Also pulled the heart.
GF did not want to eat fresh deer liver.😔

He did call me a picky bastard. 🤣
