During 2023 the pain will be slow and tortuous. Governments of the World are borrowing staggering amounts of money to simply "shore up" their collapsing economies. We will not see a 2023 Depression. There is an excessive amount of Government "Free Money" still in the pipeline that will allow millions of people to not return to work. Those with an excess of $ 1 Billion in disposable income will continue to spend on trophy houses, vintage auto collecting, race horses, yachts, travel and lavish entertainment. The "Middle Income" Americans will suffer the most during 2023 because they are the group that is losing the most.

If there were more poll choices available I might have added massive Interwebs virus/outage, and perhaps some technology-driven disaster like the Millennium Tower in San Francisco tipping over, an underwater tunnel flooding, huge bridge failing, dam bursting (3 Gorges may or may not have leaks), Chernobyl II, , super sinkhole like this one, maybe in Philly or St. Louis

Magnetic Pole Shifts, Coronal Mass Ejections and experiments going horribly wrong at CERN are always fun wildcards. Laboratory errors and anomalies yielding mutant venomous deer, alligator-giraffe hybrids, and flying pit bulls ("80 pound carnivorous bumblebees swarmed the helpless explorers") are also enjoyable to muse over on a wintry eve...

The late 1970's and 1980 were a trainwreck beyond comprehension.

The economy sucked. The cars sucked. The gas prices sucked. The music sucked. Jimmy Carter sucked. Iran sucked. The US Mil Sucked. The Soviets sucked. It sucked. We sucked.

Nothing today is close to as bad as it was then. But we bounced back in 2 years. And things didn't suck.

Short of going full-Yugoslavia (That sucked, I was there)... things do not suck yet. If we go full-Yugoslavia... it will suck at levels that Atlanta 1864 can't comprehend... Will make the Civil War look like Teletubbies.

But I don't think we'll go there. Because we have this shining light on a hill. Its called America... and the filament in that light is the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

So suck it commies. You may have your Das Kapital and your Marxist predictions. But we have the Constitution of the United States of America.... and HUMAN NATURE on our side. And humans have natural rights. That have evolved in 150K years of... being human. We will NOT be denied those rights. Whether in Wyoming or Bankok, Lesotho or Germany. New Zealand or New England. We WILL follow that torch to the city on a hill.
