I picked up some Amax 208Gr for my gas 308s. I am curious if anyone has any experience with these bullets and this caliber. In the hornady manual they shot these out of a 308 with a 1/12 twist. My 18" BRO has a 1/11 and my M&P 10 has a 1/10 so I should be good to go as far as stabilizing the heavy bullets. I know the initial velocity will be slow but a few hundred yards down range I imagine they don't loose to much. For my first loads I am going to use varget.

They're a long bullet, so seating depth might be an issue on a gas gun with a box mag. Many are running RL-17 with the 208s, but are having 'better' results shooting them at higher altitudes.

I've got 4 boxes of 208s and a couple of pounds of RL-17, but haven't loaded any up, to run out of my 26" Savage. I'm at sea level, so I didn't go berserk with the components, but I will fiddle with them down the road.

Being long, they will chew up a lot of case capacity, so be aware of that if you're finding COAL limits due to your magazine's dimensions.
