Anyone trying the 215 Berger Hybrid for F tr competition?

I have been playing with it a little but I would like to hear the experiences from others that have tried or are using the 215 Berger Hybrid bullet.

The heaviest bullet that I had shoot from .308 win was 190 SMK.

Wanna try some heavier like Berger 200 , 215 and 230

Re: 215 Berger Hybrid for F tr ?

For what it would help, I have shot 210 Hunting VLDs out of my 18" savage. They would shoot half inch at 200yrds if I was doin good. I only got them to 2350ish if i remember right but again that's an 18" barrel and with a suppressor. They do thump pretty good without a can or a brake on the barrel.

IIRC, Bill Litz was doing okay with the Berger 215 Hybrid in Raton in September... had a minor train wreck due to a loose scope mount, but when everything was tight he was shooting pretty good.

The bits-n-pieces I gathered from talking with folks that should know... was that the 200 Hybrid is essentially a stretched version of the 185 Hybrid, which in turn traces its lineage to the 185 Juggernaut... good bullets, all. The 215 Hybrid is a whole 'nother animal - more a 'lite' version of the 230 than a heavier version of the 200, at least in terms of shape and whatnot.

As for padding... thats what a PAST recoil shield is for, right?

I have only shot 49 of the 215's so far and recoil is there but not that bad. More of a shove than a sharp hit on the shoulder. And it does tend to move you around more than 190gr bullets so body position and gun handling are important.

Dang....

Between John pelting me with hot brass from his AR-10 on my left side and the muzzle blast from you trying to launch bullets the weight of a VW bus on my right side...
