I have a Savage 22-250 varmint rifle that I need to zero. I use the rifle for head shooting doe's out to 150meters and I was wondering what your suggestions were for the best zero to keep my holds from being to drastic. I won't be taking shots any farther than 200m. By the way, I am shooting Fusion 55grain bullets.

Re: 22-250 Zero

I have the same gun and i had a hard time finding a load to make a inch zero at 200yds, This is what i did, i reload so i have been taking differnt bullets and differnet powerder weights to try and get my group down to a quarter size group. I use 2520 accurate powder with speer Hollow tips 55gr i just keep increasing the powder or try differnt bullets go from there. My latest expreiment was: 35grain of 2520 accurate with 55grain hollow tip speer bullets and i shot about a 3 inch group at 100yds so i did not like that very much so i and moving my powder down to probly to 32 grains and try it again. I am also going to try and get heavier bullets (probly 65 grain balistic tips) it is all a experiment. have fun with it and dont get fustrated it should be fun.

If you do not reload. try getting a bipod with shooting bags and control your breathing. Make sure that rifle does not move till you shoot it. you will be surpried how much a fraction of a inch you are off will throw your bullets off.
