22 creedmoor thoughts...

I didn't find much info through a search so I figured I'd ask you all. I've got the bug for a 22 creedmoor. Primarily for a varmint gun but also just to stretch it's legs and see how it performs. I'm very well aware that it's a barrel burner. But through ballistic data investigation it looks to be a possible top of the mountain .22 bore.
I currently have three 6.5 creedmoor and a 6 creedmoor as well. I want to see what guys like and dislike about it and make sure I'm not just swinging for the cycle. Any information on from loads, accuracy, bullets and general discussion.
Thanks in advance

The 22CM is a very fun cartridge... I've shot the 22-243win for many years and the Creedmoor runs right with it... I haven't shot the barrel out of my Creedmoor yet but I've shot out several 22-243win barrels... I got 900-1000 rounds through a barrel with the 75gr Amax at 3500fps...

I think it'd make a great longer range coyote rifle, but I think something smaller might be a little better in a calling situation, just my personal opinion I guess.

I kinda like the lighter faster stuff for calling. I have a 22-250AI I'm using for long range along with a 22BR.

I'm thinking a 22 Creedmore would push a 75 over 3450 pretty easy. Almost too hard, but it'd be darn fun.

I'm considering it for a PRS rifle in the distant future. Gauging from some of the results guys are getting, it was looking like 3100-3200fps was capable with the 88-95gr pills in a barrel as short as 18" reliably.

BC on the heavy 22's is right in the same ballpark as the heavy 6's. It just smokes barrels out quicker, I'm sure.

Thank you sir
I figured it would take some speed. I've seen that ballistically it holds up better than expected with a shorter barrel but I don't plan to use it for prs, so how about a sweet spot barrel length in a sense of as short as you can before the velocity makes a drastic fall? Or what are you guys seeing in ballistic change from say 20" - 24"?

Why do you say that? I shoot 90 grainers out of a 1:8 22-250 and have never noticed a problem with stability (3000fps for the pet load, but have gone as slow as 2800).

i have a 22LRV getting load development right now. close enough to a 22creed.

95g smk. 26" 4 groove bartlein, 7 twist. 38g H4350 cruising at 3140 first rounds through the barrel shooting bugholes

by comparison 6XC i was running 40g H4350 pushing a 105 at 3040. the 95gr has equal or more energy throughout, and less recoil.

pretty confident i could drop the barrel to 20ish and still be in the 3100s, though maybe need h4831sc. but 38g is a pretty light load so we'll see if i get to 2000 rounds before it becomes a coyote barrel
