The 455 was shooting pretty awesome tonight. Eley Benchrest Outlaw.

10 shots at 50 yards

10 shots at 200. Cold bore is consistently low and right

I don't get these often and no one has seen this one. I'm pretty impressed with the one on the right in the top row. It measured 0.048 ish but more importantly it was where I wanted it. On that bull I was holding about 1/8 inch of wind from the left which is apparent because I tend to hold too little. All bulls are 5 shots.

This is a hand drawn target so sometimes a bit misleading but the scoring is done in OnTarget. OnTarget also kicks out a UL ARA score that I scale down from 40 to 25 shots. This was shot prone, bipod and rear bag(of rice) at 50 yards. The bulls are for score and I hold on the hashes for sighters.

I'm shooting a Vudoo 360 in a Foundation stock, 22 inch Ace Kukri, BnA comp trigger, Harrels tuner and a NF Comp 15-55. Ammo SK bought blind.

EDIT Kind of wondering about the scoring on the bull next to it but this is a bragging thread not a rigorous honesty thread.LOL

Here is a 40 shot group that is about as good as my outfit would do with this ammo. It was shot the week before.

Final tuning my B14R with EC V2 tuner. This is 2 - 5 shot groups shot at 400 yds shot with SK Long Range. The wind was 3 to 10 mph. I was just looking for vertical as I was tuning. I knew wind would be pushing right and left. The 2.25" group has 1.5" of vertical, the 2.5" has 1.75" of vertical. I got a good wind condition for these groups, shot a few minutes apart. I know these are not the norm, but are the best groups I have shot at 400yds. I am glad to keep them on a 8" plate. Groups at 200yds run half these in good wind conditions. Tuners really work.

I hate to be that guy, but one group means nothing. Sometimes the wind can blow them together. It's absolutely correct that a single group means nothing (or very nearly nothing). More than one or a few may be better. Consecutively shot groups are better still. But it's not possible to do it "all day long".
Perhaps the wind can fortuitously blow shots together, but I don't know about that.

It's absolutely correct that a single group means nothing, or very nearly next to nothing. More than one group or a few begin to be suggestive. Consecutively shot groups tell a little more. But no one is going to be doing it "all day long."

Below are ten shot groups at 100 shot last fall. The outside edge-to-outside edge sizes are shown.

Below with a different rifle, also last fall

The best four ten-shot groups from last season.

A few more from last season, these with Center X.

Three groups on the same target, again from last year.

The best three groups on one page from this season (so far). The three group average was just under .700".

Exactly;) how about 5 in a row or if I count the fouler group 6 in a row:cool: this was from a Falcon a few years ago I no longer own the rifle. unless he sold it Brandon the head of the ARA factory committee owns it now. but not with this barrel that shot these groups. the new barrel was no slouch shot with lot tested CX

reading this thread reminded me of a few things,

#1, I do not get to shoot enough,
#2, my computer files organization sucks, I have a pic of a dot drill I did with a Rem 37 with a Davis Spot Shot mounted that was somewhat impressive , and I cannot find it,
#3, I have a friend that organises PRS small bore matches, and I jokingly told him I may show up at one with the 37 or a Win 52 with Unertl to see what I can do and he said bring it

tempting,,

Perhaps because I believed it is timed and you need to move from station to station. you may not place very well. but you will probably make some believers that the old rifles and scopes can still put them out there.

Lots of lessons. I had decades of record targets from ammo/gun tests stored in the garage that flooded during a hurricane. They had never been photographed, and only were referenced when acquiring either an untested ammo, or untested lot number purchased in mass.

it is station to station and timed,

however the guy I referenced uses a bolt gun, as do many others, they are just not prone guns like the 52

Yes this is a cherry picked group but it shoots all Lapua and SK into tight little clusters at 50yds and 100yds . Gun is a Tikka T1x in a KRG Bravo with a Lothar barrel. The group is 5 shots at 50yds , off of a bipod and rear bag . Ammo is Lapua Long Range.
That really is an outstanding group for a Tikka but I really don't know why you bothered posting it. Like some of the other replys. A one time 5 shot group really doesn't show you anything!

Well as it said , it was a cherry picked group, but I also said it will shoot tight clusters at 50 and 100 . How many groups showing proof would you like to see?? I can load the page up it that will help ease your mind about how it will shoot .

Shoot at 200 and post those groups. Keep pushing back until the groups are bigger than a car hood, that is about 600 for me, 10 in a group about a foot and then 10 scattered about randomly.

How does it usually group at 100?
I'm thinking about re-barreling my Tikka but have heard mixed reports if it's worth it or not.

I have mixed reports for you as well, my gun will shoot .750 with Lapua or SK at 100 . My buddy built one just like it , just a different stock and glass , and his is ammo picky and doesn't shoot near as good. So the only thing I can tell you is it is a crap shoot . Our barrels came from the same vendor on the same day and both are Lothar Walther pre-fits , I wish I could give you more positive encouragement, I couldn't build anything that will shoot better than my gun does but I can't honestly say you will get the same results. Sorry, just being honest.
