currently looking for a 22LR rifle. I want this rifle to relieve my other centerfire rifles while teaching me a bit about the wind. I will use this rifle 80% from the bench/prone and 20% hunting. I am looking mostly at accuracy but I do know it comes at a price so I'm trying to stay less than $450.
So far I have looked at the Savage Mark II BTLVS $353 and CZ452 American $390. Is there a rifle that anyone could recommend or others? I definitely want to stay with a left hand action that is why my scope is so limited. Thanks in advance.

I would also opt for the cz. Very smooth action and very fun to shoot. You can see what mine does in the other post in this forum, Accurate Rifle Systems chassis cz455. So far that rifle only has about 100 rounds through it.

My 452LH is a tack driver. You won't find a better rifle in your price range. In order to find anything better, you'd have to spend 4 times as much, if not more. Just my 2 cents.

I have both the Sav Mkii in 22lr and 17 Mach2 and the CZ452 American. Both of the Savages are in the nice laminated Boyds thumbhole stock with the HB barrel profile. This makes both of them heavier by about 1.5lb (guessing since I have not got the scales to weigh them) than the lighter CZ. I hunted a lot with the Mach2 and the CZ this past fall and there is a noticeable difference in weight. Accuracy is nearly identical between the Mkii 22lr and the CZ.

The nine groups are all with the Savage at 50y using Wolf MX (Lapua) ammo. All are 5sh groups except for the two singles at the bottom. It shot OK but not good enough to justify sending in for the 6x5. The group 4/5 tgts are with the CZ at 50y using Lapua CX. This is slightly better ammo. The rifle is still stiff and new and getting broken in. These are the best groups and many of the others were not that good. I think they shoot equivalent to one another. The CZ is a handsome, more traditional looking rifle with a dark walnut stock, but the Sav is not ugly. Savage might be a few bucks cheaper. Mine was. Savage has a better trigger too. The last pic is of the CZ.
