I searched on here for some insight and did not find much so hopefully this will help someone else as well. I did several different loads ranging from 55gr up to 77gr bullets out of my .223 5r milspec 700 rifle.

here are my results

Lapua brass

cci 450 primers

21gr varget powder

77gr smk bthp

my coal was 2.360 and it fed in my mag

first picture is 3 shots at 100 yards second is 5 at 300 yrds with 8-10 mph wind

Never would have thought a 77gr bullet would shoot so well out of a 1in9 twist barrel!

Nice looking rifle!

I have the fluted 24" 5r cerakote. I will look when I get home, I might have some velocity numbers too on the 23.5 charge.

At an OAL of 2.360", are you seating to the lands or jumping a bit still. I have a 223 tactical as well and was surprised when I purchased this one that the lands or bullet seating depth was significantly shorter.
