The AI AICS magazines I have will hold about 2.550", and from my search, the other AICS-compatible magazines I can find range from 2.325" to 2.550" max length. Are there any .223 magazines that fit into an AICS-compatible chassis that are longer? I'm trying to load 85.5gr Bergers, and putting them at max mag length (2.550") put the bearing surface right at or a bit below the neck shoulder junction, which I usually try to avoid. I'd like to be at 2.600".

I think an Accurate mag is AICS compatible. I have a 223 built on a Remington action with a 1:7 twist barrel. I am using Accurate mags. The follower can easily be trimmed to allow for longer COAL. I'm shooting Berger 80.5 FBT, but I do have a box of 85.5 that I am going to try.

The Accrurate website shows max OAL of 2.325" but I know you can easily go past that with the follower trimmed. If you want a picture of my mag send me a pm and I'll send you a picture of my mag with the trimmed follower.

Accurate mag is the ticket , but beware they get finicky to feed after 2.550 , they tend to spear the tennon, try them at mag length and see how they shoot , I also like them seated above the neck shoulder junction, but sometimes it works just fine to be a bit deeper.

This thread has some good info. As I said in it, I was able to dremel out my Accurate mag to about 2.600" or a little shy. Someone below me posted a video on removing material from the back to get 2.630".

First, my apologies for resurrecting this thread, I couldn't find the answer otherwise. The polymer MDT mags state a coal of 2.55, is this the longest known to date?

If you don't mind some milling, you can get stupid long with the accurate mag ones.

The rifle came with an Accurate mag. I milled the insert today and just cycled 6 rounds without a hiccup. These are seated at 2.445 which is kissing the lands. I think I'll get another Accurate mag and be done.

I have a few MDTs and one modified for coal Accurate Mag feeding a T3 in a MDT ACC.
The MDT is lighter, fits the chassis with a little less slop.
I can't tell much difference between the two stripping the first round off a full stack.
Both have been reliable.
Tossing a single round into the port ( completing a stage after whatever miscue leaves you short), the Accurate Mag will allow it to chamber about 70% of the time, the MDT doesn't allow for this at all. Action architecture and cartridge COAL plays a major role here I suspect.
If one is hoping to get away from the horribleness that is filing plastic for fine tuning (w the Accurate), you're not. It has a polymer filler inside the metal lips.
MDT has about 1/2" less height.
