this has been beaten to death here my me and many others. now,a slightly more specific query. first,i don't care that you think 223 is not an ideal deer round. i already know that. so,save the snarky replies that 260 or 308 or 458 mag is better. i don't hunt any more and if i might just in the future,if the chance and urge hits. i own now 1 centerfire rifle-a DPMS 1 in 8 that,if i am on,will do .5 with 77gr SMK loads by both south west and ventura. have no need or ability to buy another rig. my DPMS doesn't seem to like any lower weight rounds. haven't tried all the 69gr match loads yet, however.
my question is: hands on experience with factory loads on hogs and smallish (deep south) WTD. this bearing in mind the need to shoot heavier bullets because of my guns seeming love for them. i know silver state makes loads with 70gr TSX. have had some issues with silver state-FTF,FTF in my other AR,not happening with any other factory loads. and,i know i just need to suck up the $ and try about 5 or 6 loads. kinda looking for a starting point. thanks for any useful info.

again, thanks for the replies. thought about just using 77gr match-if the issue were to arrive in my life. my worry there is that they would either over penetrate (shoot thru0 with little deformation if hitting no solid structure (bone). or,that they would be too delicate and disintegrate before deep penetration. i know guys here are using 30 cal SMK on deer with good results. just not sure on the 22 cal jacket vs core issue.
