.223 M40 tribute

I just hand finished.

Probably could have made it look "prettier" adding some stock finishers pumice or some very high grit sand paper but I was going for GI finish on the .223.

It will finish itself with use and additional oil.

My .308 I used tung oil and got a real deep shine finish.
Thanks, I think I'm going to stay with the hand rubbed finish. I want to avoid any shine if possible. After the last three hand rubbed coats, the stock is really dark. Looks good!

Lay it out in a he sun on a hot day.

It will boil some oil back to the surface you can rub it back in or add some oil and let it heat draw in.

I had mine on the picnic table last week and let the wood get almost "burn me" to the touch with oil.

I think the wood is "impregnated".
