223 Rem 75gr Amax loads

I have a M700 SPS Tac in 223 (1-9 twist) and was wondering if anybody had any loads to share for the 75gr Amax. I tried 23.5 grs of Varget and it did 2600 fps. 5 shot group 4 inches at 100!!!!!

Im thinking the twist is just too slow for this long bullet, but 2600 fps seemed a bit lame to me too.

any help would be much appreciated

My SPS 1-9 would not shoot the 75a-max with Varget either, even with way more Varget than you are using.

Some groups as bad as 8 inches at 100yds.

Im saving them for the next bbl, which will be AI and 1-8.

Same rifle does very well with 77SMK...

Tried to develop a load for SPS Tactical. Would shoot close to 1 moa when the temp was in the 80-90 range at 1000 asl. Tried the load at a temp of 15 degrees and looked like a shotgun pattern, not stable.

69 SMK or 60 VMAX shoots 3/4 moa or better with several combinations.

I use a 75gr HDY HPBT over 24.1gr Varget in my sps tactical. Shoots .5 MOA at my 200yf zero if I do my part. Give that a shot with a ladder test.

I tried the AMAX 75's and they have too slender an ogive top work with that twist rate.
