Currently shooting prs with a 6 creedmoor. Looking to build a .223 trainer for cheaper ammunition and better barrel life for practicing.

the question. Is there a great barreled action you can buy or should I just go custom? I plan to drop it in the same chassis and trigger for similarity there. Don’t really care if the action isn’t as smooth as my impact.

thought maybe I could save a little money if there is a production barrel out there but looking for opinions of those who have already gone this route.

Is your trainer a custom? I would think you would want to train with a very similar setup to what you shoot, at least a similar action, trigger, and stock.

ya dont go down that rabbit hole. you waste $$ And still end up getting a custom.

My primary comp rifle and 223 trainer both have same action bolt knob trigger scope barrel length etc etc.

An Origin with a prefit or if you can find a Remington 700 with .223 bolt face. The best of both worlds is to have an action like a Zermatt TL3 and swap bolt heads and barrels. I recommend a .223 Wylde chamber.

I was looking into this same question years ago, ended up with an Origin. I have multiple barrels and it’s a simple swap. Now I have the same exact setup no matter what barrel is on it. Zero is repeatable for each caliber. I routinely change between .223,6.5x47 and 308. Barrel swap, adjust turrets to new caliber and shoot! Saved money over building multiples and I can use the extra money for components or new barrels. I wish I would of done this along time ago.
