223 with 75gr Bergers behind 22 grains of Varget at ~2400 fps (labradar). Is this load too slow? It shoots lights out and produces good ES and SD. Or should I push it more. At 24 grains of varget I was around ~2700 with poor groups and numbers. Furthest itll be shot is 600 yards.

What length barrel. Out of my Savage with a 26" barrel 75gr hpbt I'm seeing in the high 2800's with 23.2gr of 8208xbr. Warm load so work up to it. Sub MOA and I shoot it out to 700-750yds.

I would think you would be able to push more than 2400 out of a 20" barrel. But I love 8208xbr for my 223/556 loadings.

Varget was too bulky for my AR loads, so I switched to CFE223. The 77gr Prime Ammo is/was a powderpuff load (around 2500 fps out of my 18”), but it was very consistent. I regularly shot it out to, and beyond 600 on 12” plates.

I have a 20" Rem 700 also. It's kinda picky, my old load was the 73 eld with 23.5 Varget, anything more than that was like throwing rocks at the target. I recently switched to the 75 bthp and thought since the bullets were similar that same load should be close, man was I wrong. New load with the 75's is 24.5 of Varget and .020 longer. I cant tell you how fast it is but it takes 2.4 mils at 430. Here's 5 @ 430.

How to make 22grs of Varget shoot faster outa 20” barrel? That is a question for the ages.

One could find some heavier brass with less capacity. That brass would raise pressure and increase the velocity a little, maybe 20 FPS. Then you would have 2420!

I'm shooting 75eld with 24.5 grains of varget right around 2900. It's a 24inch barrel no signs of pressure signal digit sd. Maybe try to work up it you see find pressure might find a higher node.
