I had the opportunity to shoot steel at 600 with some other hide members today, and was extremely impressed with the performance of my 223ai. I've never shot that distance before, and took a guess at the MOA adjustments. Ended up holding 1/2 mil for wind, dialing 14.0 (approximate) MOA from a 100 yard zero. Was on target for approximately 75% of the shots fired. As I recall, the steel plate was about 10"x10".

Shooting a Remington 700, Rock 8 twist, and Nikon Tac scope (old style). 75 amaxes behind 26.3 grains of Ramshot TAC in winchester cases with cci 400's, 2.480 COAL. I'm a big recoil wimp, and this ackley is the cat's ass. I'm looking forward to getting it out further...

Brad -

I really enjoy this rifle. I have not chrono'd the load yet as my tripod is broken, I need to borrow a better tripod and get after it. Quickload is showing that 26.2 grains should be right at 3050, and it was a warm day (90ish with high humidity), so I was definitely seeing some ejector wipe...no sticky bolt though. I will probably back down a bit and make it my standard load. I'm also going to see how the lake city brass that I have on hand will work, being sure to back the load down a bit.

By the way, how many rounds of formed brass are you able to fit into the belly of your rifle? I am at 3 before I have trouble fitting another....
