What's your definition of expensive?Really want to give it a shot, brass is still expensive and can be hard to find
I think cheap inferior parts are part of people's Valkyrie problems.
Chasing the numbers Federal orignally claimed was a big issue. No growing pains for mine. Solid 5/8"-3/4" MOA with factory federal. Solid 1/2" with RE17 and either 90 or 95 SMKs out of a Shilen select match barrel. Mine was easy to find a good load for.

Chasing too much velocity?Chasing the numbers Federal orignally claimed was a big issue.
Mine is 24" 6.5 twist and the first batches of federal I tried last summer got me 2749 for gold metal 90s. 3064 fps for the 75 gr TMJ, 3315fps with the 60gn varmint Ammo and 2714 fps with the Hornady 88s when they finally came out. My hand loads with RE17 are pushing 90s at 2730 and 95s at 2648fps. My 80gr loads are going 2864fos. They were clocked with mag speed. I'm sure there were some bad lots of Ammo out there, I did notice a difference in group size between 3 different lots of gold metal, but the worst lot was about 3/4". With my 95 SMK load, my dope was nearly identical to my creedmoore with 142smks out to 1000. I also took it Prairie dogging last summer and it worked well with some first round hits out to 750yds, that was my longest first round hit on a prairie dog with the Valk in two days of shooting. They are about the same size as water bottles.Chasing the numbers Federal orignally claimed was a big issue.
