22GT load data

So, I loaded up five 68gr Hammer HHTs for the .22GT. One charge each from 38.4 to 40gr H4350 in .4gr increments, in order to find max pressure. Only made it through the first three rounds before getting ejector marks. But they are smokin’ fast and those three rounds with three different charges went into about .25”.

Hondo….. wondering if you have tried Vargert or 8208 with those 68gr hammers? Been looking at the same load for my 22GT, interested how your development is going.
I have some Varget and N150 but haven’t tried them with the 68gr HHTs yet. When shooting 77gr TMKs, Varget pressured out at a significantly lower velocity than H4350.

I've got a wild hair up my ass to try something.

Ramshot Grand + 95 SMK

Going to use Ramshot Magnum reduced to start. The Grand is similar burn rate, but more energy.

Okay a little help here. I picked up a 22GT barrel from the hide. 7 twist, and .120 freebore... is that right? I feel like the freebore is much shorter than the .169 I have been reading. Any recommendations on load development? I have a ton of H4350 and 88eldm. Dont mine buying new bullets but would prefer to stick with 4350 if possible.

Buy Berger 85.5's. Seat 25 thou off the lands. Start at 32gr, work up .5gr increments to see where speed and pressure is. Chances are very good you'll find a competitive load as long as the barrel isn't a dud.

Okay I have virgin alpha brass and some CCI 450's. I like speed, but if an extra 50 FPS is going to burn my barrel out 20% faster I'd rather not? What kind of velocities are you getting with the 85's? I've got a 22" barrel

I was loading 35 grains of 4350 and that started at 3170 but kept creeping up until I was over 3,200. I backed a half a grain out of it and took it to the last match where I was still 3190. I'm not even going to try to think about barrel life with this cartridge
