I know a few people that either have used or currently use 230 Hybrids in a .308 bolt gun for F-TR. There are a few critical issues that have discouraged more people from trying that combination. The first is recoil management...it is neither simple nor easy to efficiently manage the recoil with those big pills. The 2nd issue is the chamber specs. If you want to get the most out of a bullet that is far from ideal for the case size of a .308, you're going to want a freebore somewhere in the neighborhood of 0.250-.300" (don't remember exactly what FB my buddies have been running, but those numbers are close). This means the rifle will be almost useless for any other load/bullet. With a rifle chambered optimally for the 230s, you can expect somewhere in the 2450-2500 fps range out of a 30-32" barrel if loaded properly. Otherwise, they're going to be stuffed way down in the case, creating a whole new set of issues, and the velocity will be very mediocre, defeating the major purpose for using 230s, IMO. The final problem has been that the 230s have been extremely difficult to find; much more so than other reloading components, which have routinely been in short supply. There have been a number of F-TR shooters that have tried to work with the 230 Hybrids over the last year or two, but for the above reasons, most have given up and gone back to something like the 200/215 gr Hybrids, which are a little easier to work with. YMMV.
If you're set on using the 230s, I believe Bruno Shooter's Supply got a big shipment in about 3 weeks ago, there may still be some available.
