I'm wanting to build a 243 AI. I have a long action. Will it feed okay or should I try and get a short action? Will the 115grs bullets have room to be seated out in the SA or will the mag box hinder it? Thanks, Trent

Mine was bilt on a short action but twisted for the 75gr bullets. I would think you need to go with the long action if you are going to seat the bullets out very far.

I don't know if the .243 AI will work on a long action or not, but if I was going to use a long action, I would consider a 6mm AI or 6mm-06.

all my 243AI's have been on short actions. I never ran 115's but several ran 105's. they fed fine from a short action and I had plenty of room to seat them out.

If you want to get the most powder behind the 115's, the LA will serve yo well. You could also run a single shot SA. I have 2 built on shorts and really have to seat the 115's deep to run in a mag. I'm gonna start running the 107's a little faster and make better use of mag length.

While not a 243 AI, I built a 7-08 on a LA Rem 700 to seat the longer 7mm bullets out farther, it feeds fine....(DBM)
