250 or 300 grain for Sako TRG 338?

I have a 1 in 10" twist.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the mainstream offerings. Both weights, 250 and 300, in Scenars and SMKs shoot extremely well for me. The 285 Hornady is also a good choice.

Are you getting the TRG 42; thought you would wait some after re-barreling the .308 in .260?
Shot mine (TRG 42, 1-10 twist) yesterday morning, only 100 yards, sighting in scope. Factory Lapua ammo, my reloading stuff came in yesterday afternoon.
250 Lapua Lock Base gave 1/4 to 1/2 MOA, 300 Scenar gave 3/4 to 1 MOA but means nothing, as the real test will start at 300/400 yards, up to a mile +.
Will concentrate more on the bigger pills (300 gr); got 250/300 SMK, 250/300 Berger OTM, 250/300 Lapua Lock Base and Scenar, also eventually want to try the 285 Hornady.
Another big question is about the powder; could not get H1000, or Retumbo. I have Winchester Supreme 780, Ramshot Magnum and RL 33. All are supposed to do well in .338LM; how well is what I do not know, hard to beat H1000.

That's good at a mile, always heard 250's worked great in the 1-12; now I have to figure out the 1-10. As it is a faster twist and ultimately I will be shooting far enough, going to start with the 300 SMK (usually a sure value) at different loads, starting with RL 33, go from there and hope for the best. Not too much info coming from shooters on that powder, not in reloading manuals and Alliant gives one load on their website, not saying if it is mild, or on the hot side.
I have experience with .308; now .338 is something new, fun...fun...
