I will be loading for my 260 bolt gun in about a month. For now I'll be stocking up on components so I can hit the ground running when it shows up. It seems as though H4350 is the powder of choice, any others that are known to be good as well. Thanks for any input.

Gas gun: H4350 has shown the best promise for working well in the gas system with the 140 class bullets, it works well with the 120's as well. Varget works well with the 120's too.
Bolt gun: H4350 for up to the 130's, then H414 is great for a place that doesn't see large temp swings (it is a bit temp sensitive but speeds and filling ratios are fantastic) and H4831sc for the 140 class too.

So your saying H4350 for lighter pills and H414 and H4831 for heavier? I haven't ordered bullets yet but I've been looking at the Hornady 123 Amax and Sierra 140's. I have been looking at the Bergers target and hunting vld also. They appear to look identicle. Thanks for your guy's input, I'll try a pound or so of each and play around with some diffee\rent bullets.

I've had a little difficulty nailing down exactly what the difference is between the Hunting and Target. The target is known to have thicker jackets for the higher MV calibers like 6.5-284 adn 6.5-06 but I think that there is probably a shape difference as well since the updated G1 and G7 values for each have changed and are different.
H4350 works really well with the 140 class bullets and it was unclear in my post above that you can shoot the 120-140gr bullets well with it. The repeatability is very good and the accuracy nodes are relatively wide as well, all around it is very well balanced, potentially the best "all around" powder for the 260. It doesn't give the best speeds that can be had from the slower 414 and 4831sc, and both of those powders can be tuned to extremely accurate results as well.

I agree on the H4350, very accurate out of my 26" Krieger. As far as speed goes, i'm getting 2850ish with the 140's

Generalization Alert:
If you check the .260 and 6.5mm threads within the Reloading Depot, you'll see that generally H4350 and H4831SC probably account for 75%+ of the posted load recipes. And, most of the folks on the Hide are using the heavier bullets as well (no surprise as we're after the highest BCs we can get).
I've standardized on H4350 shooting 142gr. SMKs and 139 gr. Scenars out of my AIAW and an AR-10 in .260. Solid results on both with H4350.
Originally, I was bitten by the Reloader17 bug trying to get greater than 2800fps velocity. I easily did but Rel17 seemed to vertically string with temp spikes in the summer (plus higher SDs). And, I realized 2800-2825ish is good enough for my use.

Varget works for either at around 35-36gr.
I have used 46-47gr H-4350 for 95's. Note, this is the published <span style="font-style: italic">minimum</span>.

Kent Reeve who is a well known Palma and LR shooter uses N150 in his 260 (bolt gun). So I loaded N150 in mine (AR-10) works great with the 123 SMKs. I could get around 2820fps in remington brass but only lasted 2 or 3 loadings, but that brass was really soft. I backed it back down to the lower accuracy node as I quit shooting the 123's at 600 and just use them at the shortline.
N150 with the 142 was a different story to fast burning couldn't get the velocity I wanted, N160 I've heard works well with them.
My current powder combination is N150 with the 123's and H4831SC with the 142's in my AR-10 which is a Medesha with a 1:8 twist 26" Kreiger

used both H4350 and 4831sc with 139 scenars.. Both worked though, 4831sc was compressed and created a "ring" on the bullet.. this did not affect accuracy 42.5 of H4350, 47ish for the 4831sc...

H4350, It has a node at 2750(42.3) and at 2830(43.5) with .5 inch vertical at 300 yrds.

The hodgdon single base powders (extreme line) are my favorites.
Velocity changes with temp changes are truely minimal.
Accuracy, and SD's can be outstanding.
Priced better than VV.
H4350 is good for all practical weight bullets (107's and up).
H4831sc needs to be packed in there behind the heavies.
Both powders yield the same accuracy, and velocity (at equal pressures) with 140's in my gun.

Ran some test loads with H4350 & 140 AMAX's the other day. Out of 8 charge weights (from 41.8 - 43.2 gr in .2 gr increments) I had 6 group at .5 MOA or better & all were better than 16 on SD.
Now I gotta wring some out at distance & see how they fare...

I am using 41gr 4350 with 140 AMAX and 140 VLDS in a LR-260. This give me `2670fps. Load performs well to 800 yards (farthest I've shot it)
