260 rem redding die bushing

Re: 260 rem redding die bushing

OK... I'll be the oddball. I thought I was running a .292. I just checked and it's actually a .294. Yes I mag feed and No, I do not get setback. And the last 300 yard group I shot was. .161 MOA, so order up your .294 bushing now! (The rifle built by Tim and Mike at UGSW.. uh... BlackOps Precision is extra though...

That is some good info will save me some time and money for sure. Are most of you running the full length s die to bump the shoulder back and is there benefits getting the competition shellholders I've always just used a feeler gauge under the shellholder to set the shoulder bump. Thanks

I run a SAAMI min chamber and I neck size only. I have over 1000 rds. though this rifle run hard in field conditions and I've had no need to alter the fired case dimensions other than to seat a bullet. Chamber is everything so YMMV, but you might get the Redding Comp dies (cannot say enough good things about these dies) with the body die and then bump the shoulder if you have to.

What do the necks on your loaded rounds measure?

Re: 260 rem redding die bushing

Fired case necks are .2970"

Loaded case necks are .2945"

Sized case necks are .2935."

After looking at these numbers, I'd be tempted to go down to a .293 bushing, but this setup has been flawless to date... Certainly after doing the math I would recommend that you check your setup thoroughly if you use a .294.

I know that .292 gave me more seating pressure than I like. We might be able to get away with less neck sizing on the Lapua brass because its formulation is so hard. With a .294 bushing I cannot seat a bullet by hand and I cannot move a seated bullet with my fingers. YMMV.

If you told me your necks were .2945, I would recommend either a .293 or .292 if I didn't have real world data.
