I picked up a few pounds of Shooters World Long Rifle for my .260 and need to work up a load. I was previously running 140 bthp's out of my 23" Brux barrel at 2868 with 43.5gr H4350. It was a hot round but no pressure signs. I tested that load up to 44.7gr without pressure. I have a tight match chamber with a really short throat. I load to 2.77 and I'm right at the lands....
**UPDATE**
Didn't get any answers so I "found my own truths" as Phil V. would say. I started a half grain under the published max because I know my gun can handle pressure. Worked up to 41.7gr and thought I wouldn't be able to reach that. WRONG!!!! I like to run 2 strings in .3gr increments to cover a little more ground than the normal .2gr jumps while still being small enough jumps to get a good idea where pressure signs start. I warm the gun up before starting string 1 then wait 5 minutes before starting string 2 which is run in reverse order. I did not have ANY pressure signs yet with this powder. I feel pretty confident that the recommended loads are way too low. Starting load with this powder would get you maybe 2300fps... I like to take the average velocity for each charge weight and graph that for the data I really look at.
Here are my results from today. I think I can find a good node around 2800-2825 with plenty of safety margin which would make me happy with this powder. The price and availability sure are right. I will update data after I run another ladder test from 41-43gr (or more????) I am curious to see just how much this powder has to give.
