Looking to build a gas 6.5. I think its coming down to which one can i afford to shoot (accuracy first) and not cry myself to sleep when i lose brass. Any experience with either reloading brass would be appreciated.

I shoot 130 OTM Bergers out of my 260 R.E.M. I necked down lake city Match '76 308 brass. Thing shoots easy sub MOA out past 600 and I've not even done load development for it. Couldn't really care less about losing the brass. I bought 1000 for $160.

My barrel is 22 inch Shilen match and the chamber is super tight.

I went 6.5cm over 260rem due to OAL limitations with magazines. 260rem with the heavier 140g bullets you will run into mag length issues. 6.5cm this isnt an issue.

I'm thinking about a re-barrel for a FN SPR and magazine length could be an issue , what coal are you getting with 140 grain bullets with the 6.5 CM ?
Thanks !

with 6.5cm and 140 ELDM or 140 Hybrids Im in the 2.835-2.85 range. With my 260rem i was past AICS max mag length for sweet spot with 140 Hybrids and just barely mag length with 140 ELDM.

That's why I love trg mags that the Tikka ctr uses, I can load my 260 to 2.93 roughly. My preferred load is 2.90. I believe Larue 7.62 mags accept longer coal than most if you get a rifle that will accept them.

I do the same thing for brass, once fired 308 brass is cheap and easy to work with. Im shooting a 24in Bartlein 5c barrel with 140gr sierras, performs well out to 1000 from what ive done.

I did a 260 rem and necked down 308 LC once fired but then had to get into neck turning as the case necks were too thick for the chambering in the shillen select match barrel i got.

for the gas gun, i would probably push you to the 6.5 creed but then again brass for the 260 is super cheap and just takes a little time on the case prep. that is really the only issue i have with it.
