Anyone hunting with a 264 win mag. I traded for a Sendero II in 264 win mag and I am thinking 130 or 140 gr Bergers should be great antelope medicine. Was told gun has a short throat though might have to send it off to lengthen it. Kind of weird in a factory remington.

Re: 264 win mag

There are a few of us on here shooting 264s. Most of us have at least one 264 Sendero II. I've worked up a load using 140g SMKs that, when I'm doing my part, will print sub-.5" 3 shot groups. When I'm not doing my part I cuss a lot and wonder WTF is going wrong.

Our rifles have 1:9 twists. I've bought both Berger 130s and 140s and will begin load development one of these days. 1sikpuppi and JamieD are both 264 shooters and I think thers'a couple more somewhere.

As far as the short throat thing, you're the second person I've heard that from. Makes me wonder about my rifle.

Look forward to talking with you further. One last thing - in case you don't know it, 264s can be VERY tricky to load for.

Re: 264 win mag

I have several 264 Winnies. love every one of them. I have had great accuracy and performance with both 120 and 140 grain pills.

Gt yourself some H1000 powder and have fun!!

Re: 264 win mag

i've shot the barrel out of my Sendero SFII in .264. the short throat is not a bad thing as it leaves you room to chase the lands. mine would shoot .5 moa @ 500 meters. it would not shoot the 142 SMK, but would shoot all the 140 grain bullets i tried in it. my powder choice in the .264s is IMR 7828.

Re: 264 win mag

Although I don't own a .264 Mag I am a huge fan of the 6.5 bullet. I have hunted antelope and mule deer with the 140 VLD Berger. It is an excellent game bullet. I have also killed elk with a 140 Sierra Game King's. You will not be disappointed.
