I'm up in the air right now on what my new build will be chambered in but i have been doing some research on the 28 Nosler. I have a donor long action from a R700 chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. What bolt face would i need to chamber the 28 Nosler, will the current one work? Also assuming that i will be shooting 180gr VLD's what twist will i need in the barrel?

The 28 Nosler does use a std. mag. bolt face. 1-9" will work just fine for the 180's.

I use 8.5's & 9" twists in my .284 Shehane rifles shooting 180 Hybrids with no noticeable difference. That said, I would consider an 8" or 8.5" (or something in between) twist if there's any chance you might try the Berger 195 or the Sierra 183 or 197 gr. bullets.

I had one of my 30" 8.5 twist Shehane barrels rechambered to the 28 Nosler and it stabilized the 195 Berger @ 3080-3200+ during ladder testing. Have both Sierra's but, haven't tried them yet.

3080-3200 fps that's moving. If I went with a 28" barrel do you think 3000 fps with 195gr berger's would be an achievable muzzle velocity?

There's a bunch of posts on AccurateShooter where guys are getting from 3050 fps with mild loads to 3150 fps. From what I can tell, most are 26" barreled hunting rifles.

3000 might be too mild with a 28" barrel ;)
