Can anyone suggest a good ammunition for my 30-06 I've been shooting remington 150gr soft points but havnt gotten the penetration or the accuracy I've been looking for.

what rifle are you using?
i had a weatherby vangaurd that was shooting lights out with FGMM 168 gr 30-06.
i used the chambered fired brass to work up a load using 175 gr SMK over 4064 that was superbly accurate. i'll find the load data if you're interested.

Just curios, but what are you hunting and where?
IMO for anything you can find in TX, that 150gr SP should be doing well unless you are at extended ranges.
Whatever the case may be, more penetration for .30 cal = Barnes TTSX.

I do a lot of hunting in Colorado and a lot of the shots I take are anywhere from 300 yards to 500 yards at elk

For elk use a bonded or all copper bullet
Swift a frame
remington ultra bonded
Accubond
Barnes bullets
nosler partitions
Interbonds
etc...
A boattail design will be best for those ranges if they are common ranges you shoot.
Are you shooting factory loads? I've been waiting for speer to release the new tropy bonded bear claw to the public. I loved the old ones just not for long range. But they seem to be only letting them be federal factory loads for now. They would be an awesome elk load

If trying factory loads, I'd try out the Federal Fusions. I have nothing but good to say about them. One hunting rifle I had loved those things, and for some reason it was the only bullet I ever found, handloads included, that it shot accurately.

If you are handloading try some 180 grain SGK. They are what I'm running in my 30-06. I find them to be excellent hunting rounds.

I have two .30-06 bolt action rifles, a Savage 116 and a Win Mod. 70 Extreme Weather. As to accuracy, my Savage has consistently produced 0.4"-0.6" 3-shot 100 yd groups with my hand loads using IMR 4064 and IMR 4895 and 168gr Hornady A-MAX bullets and 0.67"groups using 168 gr Barnes TTSX bullets. I would use the A_MAXs on deer and the TTSX on elk-size game. My Winny produces 3/8" groups with 168gr Sierra MatchKings (for practice), 3/4" groups with TTSXs, 7/8" groups with TSXs and A-MAXs.
I've just bought a box of 168gr Berger Hunting VLDs and 175gr SMKs for practice. I also got some Nosler BTs and Combined Technology Ballistic SilverTips and a box of Nosler Accubonds. Stay tuned.
