Looking for the above for base camp water storage.
Anyone have a handle on where to get a cheap version.

Define cheap version? Sportsman's Warehouse, Uline, Walmart have 30gal between $60 and $75 and open end with lid ring lock for about $50. A trash can will work depending on what base camp water storage is?

Cheap ones are reconditioined and not FDA approved. New ones are more expensive. Since they're like coolers, pay a little more, get the new ones and they'll last you for a long while.

We have a sausage company in town that regularly sells 30-55 gallon drums that were used for spices, food colorings, etc.

They sell screw top ones for $25 and the others for $10-15 depending on size. I bet you have something near you too.

My local coca-cola bottling distributor used to sell the empty plastic drums the soda syrup is stored in; of course once I bought a couple a friend found some really inexpensive ones on Craigslist
