Re: 300 AAC Blackout at the 3-Gun Multigun Nationals
Where did he get a barrel that long? I looked all over for an 18-20 inch barrel and found nothing... Also I thought after 16" on the AAC 300 Blackout that there isn't a significant change in ballistics specs . I'd be happy to be wrong. Anyone have any info?

I think what they mean is that it does unusually well with a short barrel. Does not mean it does not do better with a longer barrel. Here is a chart I made using QuickLoad to show how velocity has a sweet spot around 16 inches, but continues to go up well past 24 inches.
As for where he got a barrel that long - the Army made that barrel, but anyone can make you a barrel any length you want. Try Satern or White Oak.

Thanks rsilvers!
Do you happen to have a chart/specs that compares 5.56 to the AAC 300 out of 18"+ barrel? I was originally looking at building a SPR in 5.56 but wanted something more powerful. I've toyed with the idea of 6.8 SPC II and a 7.62 SPR for log distance precision shooting. How does the AAC 300 Blackout fall in the spectrum of the other three?
