300 blackout question

Re: 300 blackout question

Mostly the 300 AAC BLACKOUT has a longer throat, which allows for higher velocities in the same way that 5.56mm is compared to 223 or 6.8 SPC-II compared to 6.8. For this reason, any 300 AAC BLACKOUT load will have additional pressure if shot in a 300 Whisper(R) chamber.

As for the case being longer, I don't think so. 300 AAC BLACKOUT is 1.368 max length with nominal being 1.358.

300 AAC BLACKOUT has the same headspace as 221 Fireball although the datum point has been moved to end up being on the straight portion of the shoulder.

Re: 300 blackout question

The subsonic was on hold and just had to pass an extreme hot and cold test. It passed, and is coming soon in the large quantities.

The 123 grain is delayed while the bullet design is being optimized.

Bulk brass is shipping very soon and small ammo companies will use it to make ammo. This will make a big difference.

If I recall you were using a neutered 8" barrel for that velocity, I am going 16" so if that true it should be a bump in performance. You are right I was asking about the Hornaday 110 Vmax thanks for reading my mind, sorry for the confusion with the powder.

On AAC blackouts websight it says the 6.8 spc with Hornady TAP had 8% more energy than the 123gr MC. Just curious if the 110 Vmax out of the 300 could equal it in energy. It would seem like a good combo.

Re: 300 blackout question

2450 fps from a 16 inch barrel is certainly possible while staying below 55,000 psi but it depends on the OAL and your barrel.

I would not try that velocity in a 300 Whisper(R) barrel as it would almost certainly exceed 55,000 psi.

Yes sorry, I forgot to mention that it was an 8 inch barrel.
