Having just seen the recent thread on the 7mm PRC. I was wondering the same about the 300 PRC I am thinking of having a Remington 40x in 7mm magnum re-barrreled to 300 PRC. I have engaged a gunsmith to work on this and was wondering what opinions are out there about a project like this. It is a single shot so it is at a disadvantage at an ELR but only one person can win that anyway. I think it would be fun to try this combination. Appreciate any comments positive or negative but would like to see Bear Pit comments stay there.

Being a single shot will not put you at a disadvantage at an ELR , lots of single shot rifles. Especially in the big cartridges( Cheytec's and Hellfire) from what I've seen at the few ELR matches I've attended.
I have 2 different 300prc rifles. One that was built as a lightweight rifle for hunting and the other for ELR. Great round.
My thought is to make sure your action will be long enough. The 300prc is a long cartridge.

It is a short action Ram 40x the the cartridge it will chamber all right and after discharge it will be some what shorter if the entire round had to be removed you can take the bolt out
