OK...I am on vacation for 2 weeks and my wife took all my credit and debit cards. I am left with shooting and I am working on some rifles that I haven't shot in a while. My 300 SAUM is a 1-12 twist 26 inch barrel with a vias brake and shoots 59 grains of RL17 with the old 208 a-max but looking to step it up to a more modern bullet for 1000 yard hits and a all around cartridge. I have a lot of different powders but no retumbo or ramshot. What do you thing would be a awesome round. Tried H4350 with the 208 but got pressure signs at 55 grains with norma brass and it was a little slow but shot good.

Did some crazy testing yesterday. Loaded the 155 Lapua Senar over 66 grains of superperformance powder. It appears this may be the holy grail for my rifle. If the data is right that bullet is running over 3200fps right now with no pressure signs at all. My lab radar may be here today to check it but if I can get 3300fps or more this will be a heck of long range gun. Should be able to reach 1200-1400 yards I think.

Am I the only crazy person that shoots this round in a 30 cal???lol I went up to 67 grains but it had a slight ejector mark and I could tell the bolt lift was just a little tighter. Gonna settle in at 65.7 grains I think. Should be just over 3300FPS. UPS delayed my christmas gift (Lab Radar) so I will tell what the speed is next week.

That would be a good hunting round. I wanted something very flat shooting or very long range. I was shooting the 208 amax over RL17 and I have some 178amax that I could load also. H4350 is a awesome powder.

I know this is an old thread but I am new to the site and to reloading, trying get some info. I bought a bunch of reloading equipment from a friend and got some powder and primers with it. With powder being as scarce as it is has anyone found varget or n160 to be any good reloading 300 saum. I ask because that is what I have. Everywhere I look it seems like h4350 is the preferred powder.
