.300 win mag & 208 AMAX loads?

Re: .300 win mag & 208 AMAX loads?

Thanks for the link! I did find a little info from it and tried it out today in my Rem 700 AWR .300 win mag. I tried 70,71 and 72 of IMR 4831 Win preped cases and CCI 250 primers.
The initial three shot group at 70 grains went .410" 71 and 72 were a little hot it seemed and the groups went too 1".
More range time needed but a good start.

Try some H1000 too. I found that I could get better velocity without the pressure that I got with 4350 and 4831. They are also notoriously temp. sensitive as well, whereas H1000 is not and it is amazingly clean burning.

If you're shooting under 1500 yds, try some 210 Bergers and JLK's too. I'm finding that there are times when they are grouping a lot tighter.

Re: .300 win mag & 208 AMAX loads?

I tried the H1000 and had some success, but I was getting into compressed loads around the 75.5gr range with vel. around 2850fps.
I went to the 4831 SC and I'm running 69.8 gr with a MV of 2845 fps and having great results with the ogive just touching the lands. My next step is to start backing off the lands to find a sweet spot.
