I just got a new 300 win mag. I have 100 208gr amax bullets and 100 220gr smk. I need some load help. I have some H1000 but can buy other powder if I need to. What are your guys doing with these?

Thanks
Mike

Re: .300 win mag data HELP

H1000 is a good choice. Have you checked Hodgdon's reloading data on their website? There are starting and max loads there for 200 and 220 grain bullets with H1000 and their other powders. Check their first and then look at the 'loads for...' posts above for a ton of info on 208's and H1000.

RE22 is also good for the 220gr SMK and I use VVN165 for the 208's.

If you still need more I've got some info direct from Hornady just for the 208 A-max which I can email you if you like.

Mike </div></div>I'm working up loads with the same bullets. I started seating them on the lands. 208 Amax : RL22 @ 72 grs gave me my best group, .9" @ 300 yds, 3 shot group. With the 220s I started getting flattened primers @ 70 grs, so I will set them a little deeper. I happened to hit the gun store after the range and bought h1000 to compare against the reloader22.

Re: .300 win mag data HELP

I suggest that you will find at least 3 nodes between 72 and 79 grains of H1000 with the 208 AMAX. I'm at 78.5 in WW-Super brass with CCI 250 seating .030" off the lands. Velocity is around 2925 in a stock 26" 1:10 700P and accuracy is .5MOA or so. Be sure to work your way up as my load is hot - at or near max - but with minimal pressure signs in my rifle.
