I need some opinions folks. I currently have a 300 win mag 700 Stainless in a laminated stock. I have the money to get it rebarreled and trued up in a heavier barrel. I can also afford a mcmillan stock for it. I dont reload and 300 win mag is expensive.........I dont have an AR type rifle and i want one bad! I dont have the funds to do both but i can swing one or the other. I have a nightforce F1 on the rifle for now. Should i keep the win mag and build it up or sell the nightforce f1 and build a mk 12 mod 0 and "Bridge the gap" between the two that want......5.56/.223 is alot cheaper and i honestly dont have the time or money to shoot long range and get proficient at it. Should i stick it out with the 300 or just go the AR route?

Thats what im thinking too.......The mk 12 mod 0 makes since because i dont have the time to put in to get really proficient at shooting long range. With the mk12 you dont really need to right off the bat. Ill still have the 300 min mag and ill work on it slowly until its done.

No doubt I would put the 300 aside and go with the mk 12. Just a thought but unless you just really dig the mk12 there are tons of other precision 223 uppers out there that will shoot just as well and be a little cheaper.

I have a precision 223 upper that gets shot every range trip, and a REM 700 5r 300wm that has been zeroed and almost never sees the range. The 300wm just isn't what I would consider a practice caliber due to the cost and recoil.

yeah i like the mk12 mod 0/1 but i dont need the exact setup.....I think i will have to see how much i can get rid of my nightforce F1 for then go from there......
