300 Win Mag precision hunting rifle based on 700P or Sendero SFII-please help me decide

I would like to put together a precision big game hunting rifle in 300WM. The Rem 700 would be my first choice due to my familiarity as well as the abundance of aftermarket parts. I started looking at the XCR Long Range Tactical, but just couldn't warm up to the B&C stock. The one I saw was really off center and touching the barrel near the forend tip.

My next options would be either a 700P or Sendero. From the website, it looks like the 700P is carbon steel while the Sendero is obviously stainless and fluted. Weight is within 1/2 pound. Stocks look the same except for color. Any other differences I should be aware of? Any advice as to which would make a better starting point for a precision hunting rifle?

I should mention that I have the true long range/target aspect covered with a TRG22-308 and TRG42-338LM, but they would be pretty heavy to hunt with.

with the fluted barrel, the Sendero will balance better. The 700P will have a fatter palm swell, if you're hunting in areas that you will have cold weather gloves it may throw your firing hand off a bit. For a predominately hunting rig I would go with the Sendero

The Remington website is a little sparse on details, but in reading a few other places it looks like the 700P may be Parkerized and may have the 40X trigger. Others say it is matte blue and Xmark Pro. Can someone confirm?

You cannot beat 700 P For the money. I had one that was an absolute tack driver. Put a thruster break on it And adjusted my trigger to a hair trigger. With the 208 Amax and reloader 22 I could shoot 6 to 7 inch groups at 1200 yards. There was one day at 1,000 yards where I beat three gentlemen who were shooting Ga Precision's And were really good shots. If you handload that will make all the difference in the world As the throats are very long. From what I understand the Sendero is basically a 700 P with a fluted barrel, x mark trigger and 2 swivel studs instead of 3.
In my particular Police, it literally shot everything from the 178 amaxs to the 210 vlds. And shot them well. I always used to laugh when people told me it was a "great starter rifle" because although it wasn't the most expensive rifle it would most certainly hang with the 4,000$ ones. I proved that to be true on several occasions. I'm not going to lie, I don't know a whole lot about the Sendero. Shot a few but never owned one. But they were all SHOOTERS. Only reason I got the P is because a buddy gave it to me for 850$ and it was already wearing a Badger ordnance 20 moa rail. I guess I just got lucky as far as the guns performance. I really miss it

I bought a 300 win mag Sendero several years ago. The best advice I can give you is to make sure you put a good muzzle brake on it. Awesome rifle! I had some work done to mine but dropped a doe at 804 yards with it last year.

I also used 208 AMAXs in mine and they worked great for long range target and hunting.
