So I’ve been looking at the 300wm and was looking at the browning xbolt hell’s canyon lr that has a 1/8 twist and a Weatherby vanguard first lite that has a 1/10 twist. I was wondering can I shoot lighter loads out of the Browning like 165 fine or will it over stabilize. Also Does anybody have any experience with these guns?

The Hells Canyon has the pretty regular 1/10 twist. At least, that is what the Brownings website says.
I dont know why you would get a win mag to shoot light weight bullets like that. The win mag is what you pick to sling the bigger bullets, im thinking minimum 190 grains and up, usually with awesome BC numbers.
I much prefer the Hornady ELD-M 208, ELD-X 212 and Lapua Scenar L 220 grain in my custom 300 WM.

a 1/8 on a 300???? Probably a 1-10 1-8 is usually a 6.5 Be care full on those weatherby's if you want to shoot a heavy bullet they have really short boxes. I had a ultralight in 300 win and the box magazine was not very forgiving.

yea browning switched some of their rifle from the 1/10 to 1/8 in some calibers.

The hells canyon long range is a 1/8 twist and has a heavier barrel. The hells canyon speed is a 1/10 twist with a lighter barrel. I’m looking at the long range one.

I have a 1-9 on my sako TRG 22 in .308 win. That is the standard twist rate PVA uses. It shoots 175gr FGMM extremely well. Of course thats not a 1-8”. Lol
