.300 wm brass

Went through 12 pages looking for thread. GAP Hospitaller just delivered. I have 100 pieces of Winchester never fired brass but open to options?

Nothing wrong with the Winchesters you can shoot them or buy premium for a small "potential" increase in resolution

Thank you Niznac, heard a fellow reloader sold his 300 and has 50 norma brass. Gonna cost me a fishing trip. From what I can tell it's a little lighter than the Winchester. Guess I'll find out if that's a good or bad thing.

Not sure about the new Winchester but the blue bag stuff you could push pretty hard. Norma is softer in the head of the case. Norma is pretty ok though.

The winchester I got off gunbroker was some factory stuff that came from factory and the bullets had to be pulled. Gonna deprime and full length size and turn the necks. Thank you for the info on the Norma.

Since you got a little Winchester I would play with it and figure out what your gun likes and then if you decide to go to Norma drop your charge about 1.5-2gr from what the Winchester likes. Probably loose bout 100-150 fps in my experience. Good luck. 300 whinny is great caliber.

I bought some Bertram brass recently and it's working really well. It was affordable and IMO is a lot better than the Winchester. I got it from HSM ammo - it's not listed anywhere or on their website but if you call them up and ask, they will sell it directly to you. They confirmed that Bertram makes their brass and puts the HSM headstamp on it for them, since their primary business is making loaded ammunition. Just FYI.

The RWS brass is amazing but it's ridiculously expensive. I'm real pleased with the Bertram. I'm waiting on a custom program from AMP annealing before I anneal - I shipped the brass samples to NZ and they should arrive this coming week.

Norma is the best I've used in the 300 WM. If anything, the Norma (light) brass that weighs~217 grains will allow a higher powder charge due to it having a higher case capacity, usually about 1-1.5 grains more than brass weighing 235-240 grains to achieve comparable velocity. If you don't overpressure Norma brass, it should last twice as long as other brands, namely RP. However, even with stiff loads of H1000 and a Berger 215, I have not experienced abnormal softness in the head as others claim.
