I have a pretty new Savage Tactical 300 WM with 24" barrel and about 150 rounds of brass. Powders are maybe four lb IMR 4350, 3- H4831, Surplus 4895 6 lb Varget and 5 lb IMR 8208. Bullets are 500 count SMK 200gr HPMK, 500 178 HPMK, and 1500 155gr HPMK. What combo would you try for 1000 yards.

I bought the 155's for my .308 but they are disappointing me there with Varget and 8208. Would be cool to find something for .300 WM.

Start the 155s with about 58 grains of the Surplus IMR 4985 and work up. Somewhere between 60 and 64 grains you might get a good load.

Start with the IMR 4350 at about 68 grains. On that powder somewhere between 70 and 75 grains you'll find a pretty good load.

The 200 grain bullets might start with 62.0 of the IMR 4350 and work up to 69 grains. This load from my gun is in the ball park of 2595 at 62.0 grains and is a pretty good load.

The other powders I'm not real familiar with in that cartridge. I don't have any data on 178s in the 300 WM either.

Good luck.

In my Rem 700 Tact in 300 Win Mag 5R

The 190 Sierra MK or Nosler AB LR and Reloader 22 work great
With 220 Sierra MK and Berger 230 OTM my powder of choice is H1000
With 180 Nosler BT the IMR 4350 work great
Both with WW brass and Fed 215 Match primers

Thanks for the ideas, they seem to follow what's in my manuals. I'd like to start with the 200's but I will try some 155's to see the velocity, accuracy, and recoil differences.
